Barn conversions and rural projects come with their own challenges: older structures, uneven levels, restricted access and strict planning conditions. Working as a high-end construction contractor in Preston and the wider Lancashire countryside, we are used to dealing with these constraints without losing sight of the finished home.
Many of our rural projects sit in the villages around Preston and South Ribble – from farm buildings near Woodplumpton and Goosnargh to outbuildings on the edges of Longton, Wrea Green and Lytham. Our first step is to understand what can and cannot move. Existing walls, roof structures and openings often need to be retained, while new elements such as steels, insulation and glazing must weave into what is already there.

Inside, the goal is to create a comfortable, modern home that still reflects the original building. We plan how to route services, heating and ventilation so that the spaces work day to day – warm in winter, cool in summer and easy to maintain. Customers in these areas often want a calm, understated feel: natural materials, clean lines and good light rather than overly busy interiors. We coordinate the build so that exposed beams, stonework, joinery and finishes are protected and handed over in good condition. The result is a barn or rural property that feels rooted in its Preston or South Ribble setting while offering the same level of comfort you would expect from a high-end new-build in Lytham.
